Doctor Phillips is a census-designated place in an unincorporated area of Orange County, Florida with a population of roughly 11,000 people. Doctor Phillips is in the a suburb of Orlando and is in the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Area. The area is named for Doctor Phillip Phillips who was a central Florida citrus grower. Doctor Phillips owned thousands of acres of citrus groves in the early 1920s and was responsible for innovations in the production, processing, and packaging of orange juice. He owned groves in nine different central Florida counties. Doctor Phillips had a single heir, a son named Howard, who left all of the Phillips Family holdings to be used in charitable ways. Their gift to the people of central Florida touches the lives of thousands of children and families each year. The community of Doctor Phillips has a total area of 12.6 square miles miles with 3.8 square miles being water.
